When T+A reached out to me about their maternity session, I was over the moon excited to document this wonderful experience between them. Amid the confusion of Covid and the many unknowns, we had to reschedule a few times to ensure we were all safe. After several reschedules, we finally could come together and set a date for this wonderful session. Yosemite NP had just brought back their reservations to get into the park, and on February 1st, @ 8 am, I made sure myself and these two had their paperwork in order so we could all get into the park.
Conveniently enough, the date we set happened to be one of the most popular dates in the park due to #Firefall. This event only occurs during a short period in February each year from around the 16th-22nd when the sunset hits horsetail falls, making it look like the waterfall is on fire. (Highly recommend checking these photos out–they are magical)! With our date set, we all prepared for the session, and I had arrived nearly forty minutes early to make sure I could get parking, and my couple could find me. As I started to approach the shoot location, caution tape and traffic cones were placed everywhere, not allowing for parking. The few spots where parking was available were filled with cars and tourists wanting to see the event at horsetail falls.
I circled southside and northside, making the loop in nearly a half-hour of heavy foot and car traffic. It usually takes about fifteen minutes to complete the loop, but this day was extra busy. After driving around and seeing all my backup locations were blocked off, I pulled off on the roadside in a turnout and shared my location with my couple. This random field shows you anywhere in Yosemite you can create magic, and after the crazy day in the park, we did just that –we made magic!
Enjoy Tiffany + Alex's incredible maternity photos!
